Polite tanks, Victory Parade on the White House

Congratulations to all on Victory Day!

Today 9th of May is the Victory Day.
This day 70 years ago Soviet people together with people of USA, England, France made Europe free from the greatest evil of 20th century - fashism.
This Day every year Russia, Russian people all around the world and many other good people celebrate the Victory Day. This day there is the Victory Parade on Red Square In Moscow. Leaders of many countries visit Moscow this Day and present on the Parade.
This year US President Barack Obama decided not to go to the Victory Parade in Moscow and USA will be represented by Ambassador to Russia John Tefft.
Students of the Russian school of movie "Set" (Сеть, Network) filmed clip which is gaining popularity in the Internet.
As the authors say, they have projected footage of passage of Russian heavy equipment in Red Square in Moscow and the Russian flag onto the wall of the White House in Washington.
"If Barack does not go to Moscow Victory Day Parade - the Parade itself will come to Barack," - joke the authors in the preface to the clip.

Watch the short part of Moscow Victory Parade on the wall of the White House in this video with English titles: http://www.vesti.ru/doc.html?id=2563802&cid=9

The action was called "Polite tanks."
The video shows also as witnesses of this action shoot everything that happens on mobile phones.
"The Secret Service is aware of the alleged incident. Suitable consideration are currently being," - was reported to TASS agency by the press service of the US Secret Service.

May be it's only a joke from the clip authors, but looks very funny. And the footage of the Victory Parade are real.

Here in the West we call it VE Day (Victory Europe).

In a few months time we have VJ Day (Victory Japan) which formally ended WWII.

Do the Russians have another day for the victory over Japan since they fought battles against the Japanese.

Russia has only Victory Day 9th of May when war in Europe was ended. Though Russia took part in the victory over Japan this day isn't celebrated in the country should be by the reason this didn't affect Russia too much, US mostly fought Japan those 4 years, Russia had some forces at the border.

Just now have heard about one event those days. At the end of the war between US and Japan, in march 1945th, 300 US aircrafts dropped bombs onto Tokio. Those bombs had newest american lethal content - napalm. The city and 100 000 peaceful people in it were burned.
Tough to suppose the reason for which Pentagon did this when the result of the war was clear. This attack is usually in shadow of two nuclear bombings which Pentagon did to Japan that war.
I have heard about this napalm attack first time. Looks very cruel thing. Should be this put a spoon of tar in vat of honey of american victory.

Nothing different than what was done to the German city of Dresden in 1945.

The Tokyo raid plus the 2 Atomic bombs despite being cruel actually saved lives. Japan did not believe in surrender (witness all their soldiers committing suicide on the islands in the Pacific). The Samurai culture believed in fighting to the last man. The US estimated there would be 5+ million people killed if they had to land soldiers in a D-Day like effort and then conquer the country bit by bit. That excludes potential civilian casualties from starvation / bombings etc.

So even though plenty died in the Tokyo raid + the 2 atomic bombs it did result in the Japanese surrender without need for more casualties.

Surrendering could be possible without those 2 nuclear bombings and napalm attack.
Soviet soldiers turned to the east as soon as war in Europe was stopped. This was matter of 2-3 months to capture Tokio by the soldiers.
No needs in those american bombings with million victims inside Japanese.
Our media tell that those nuclear bombings was necessary to Pentagon to try how new nuclear weapon acts. May be so was for new substance napalm.

Surrendering was not possible. The Japanese did not believe in it.

Go read up on the battles of Okinawa, Iwo Jima etc. The Japanese did not surrender on those islands. They fought until they ran out of bullets and then committed suicide. There were virtually no POW's from any of the islands America reconquered. The same took place at sea with the Kamikaze pilots deliberately ramming into boats. It would have been even worse in Japan as that is their home. They would have fought to the last man and it would have caused millions more to die.

Napalm was invented in 1942 and used prior to Tokyo. As for the Atomic bombs, if they were not used there, they would have probably been used in Korea or Vietnam or maybe even in a European confrontation with Russia.

If Tokio were captured by Soviet Union, Japan Imperator were sound to people that the war is ended. Should be Pentagon didn't wish to wait.
