The Black Knights should be able to support 2 teams of 2...

Also I think with 2 vs 2 it can be 1 day -
there is always some saved time, there are aways, and we can use our partner time, if he is still alive

There were players who had problems to follow through 3 games in 1.5 days
There are different log in hours.
2x2 may need sequence of play and communication
Also free accounts can't use aways.
When there is a time limit you don't have to exhaust it anyway.
Personally, I can't handle 3 2x2 games in 1 day in working days.
2 days with 8 aways ensure timely completion and allow some thinking and cooperation...

Probably mid September is best because August is a vacation month,

Please name some maps you like for the tournament

Daradorn valley would be a nice 2x2 map. Just the right size for a nice paced game, good mix of terrain and evenly balanced.

I think the 16 pairs will fill up very fast!
Maybe we should make a mass-message that goes out to all active players, kind of as the admins do when seasons end or updates are made. and let people respond on a more direct question.
I think many who would be interested does not really use the forum.

Also, I am wondering if the tournament will be team-bound, or if you can team up with any player, that either does not belong to any team, or is in another team than yourself?

Mowhar,

You can only team up with players on your team. That's because tourney games are also ladder games and ladder games are restricted to players on your team.

I think 16 pairs is about all we will get because that's 32 players. There are only 66 active players now so 32 pairs would be pretty much everyone and I doubt there is that much interest.

Code: Select all
R | Map                 | Size
--|---------------------|------
1 | digital clover      |  5625
2 | Four Lords original | 10000
3 | Daradorn Valley     | 10000
4 | high sea combat     | 15000
5 | battlefield         | 22500
o | strategeo           | 10000

Looking at your map preferences I made such table as a proposition.
I now some people wanted to join 1-1 tournament but there was no place for them.
I think we can set up tournament for 32 teams, with starting date of 1st October.
And at end of September - namely in 2018-09-22 - we will see how many joined and lower the number.

We just need to keep not to large groups - no more than 4 teams in a group.
We can have 24/6 teams/groups on tier one, 12/3 teams/groups on tier 2, 6/2 teams/groups on tier 3.
Even if the initial number would be odd. I see no problem in a group being easier.

Let's try to narrow it down...

I put on the table the following suggestion based on what is said so far and some personal flavor

Round 1
Daradorn Valley by KGB

Round 2
Rivalry by Piranha

Semi Final
Europa III by SCIkick

Final
World of Midgard by Tim

Play off map:
Digital clover by SoulMan

If you think any of the above maps should be replaced, consider chosing among the maps below:

Four Lords original by KGB
High Seas Combat by Snotling
Illuria balanced by piranha
Hexagon by Garvisus

I do not like some of the maps, but since tournament shall be a challenge, I would not say which.
The only thing. Would not we be able to allow 24 teams?

If you wish to swap some maps feel free to say.

I don't know if it is possible to have 20 or 24 teams (in group of 6?) from admins side

It would also be hard to run 5 games in parallel.

Do you think there would be more than 16 couples to join?
How many teams from GOO would participate?

24 players gives 6 groups of 4.
If half teams passed than 12 players gives 3 groups .
If again half passes we will have 6 teams for two groups of 3.
Than let 2 teams pass for a final.

If we will end with 21 teams we can start with 6 groups 4 4 4 3 3 3
The ending group s will be easier, but well, we all play for fun.
