Each terrain requires a certain number of movement points per space. For example in hills ground units need 6 movement points per space.

If any of the units in your stack has pathfinding it reduces the movement cost to whatever the pathfinding value of the unit is. So for example if you have dwarfs in the hills the movement cost for all the units in the stack is 1 pnt per space.

And specific to heroes, it reduces the maximum land travel points...
