I find fear/chaos too powerful.

It seems the thinking was that paladins and dread knights were sort of opposites, doing exactly the same amount of their respective abilities. You added in this minimum of 5 str, which does not help enough. The minimum in Warlords is equivalent to 10. I find it makes for poor play when one side can lose 20 units while inflicting 1 loss in return. That sort of lopsided combat is possible thanks to fear/chaos.

Suppose a 15 str unit fights a 15 str unit. Should be a 50-50 fight. If a high level paladin helps, so that it's a 25 vs a 15, the 25 str unit has an 80% (80.28%) chance of winning. If a dread knight helps, then it's a 15 vs 5, and the odds are now 90% (90.66%). Shouldn't these 2 heroes provide about the same amount of help? (The valkyrie is of course the worst hero by a big margin.)

Then there is the kraken. 10 fear is immense. That's far more powerful than the red dragon's 12 morale. To beat up 1 kraken on the ocean may be impossible for mere 15 str units, which is the best that land units can do without spending ruinous amounts on better ships.
