Could read an enemy message

Postby Ahla » Wed May 30, 2012 12:10 pm

I could see a message between our enemies in game 22214, a 2 vs 2 team game. I guess the message was sent during our turn while I was doing a move. I can't see it anymore.

Don't think it will have any impact on the game, but might be worth checking out to avoid future occurances.

What's the status?

game 24260: Could see a message between two other players (negotiating a pact against me :p). I sent them a message so they know about this.
Situation:
Turn 21. Started my turn. Couldn't see this message. Captured a city (Andor). Watched battle details. Closed battle screen. City was still neutral, with my winning stack on it. Refreshed (F5). Wanted to write my opponents a message and see this message between my enemies.

I quit the game until you guys have investigated. (Please advise when done. I already missed my previous turn so would like to finish this one on time. :))

Another issue: I thought neutrals didn't ambush?! Attacking this city of Andor I got ambushed by a ghost. How is this possible? That's why I took a look at the battle details and then wanted to write a message to my opponents and ask them if they knew about this, when I suddenly saw this message between them.

Before the last beta release, I know we discussed about changing it so neutrals did have ambush (which myself and at least KGB agreed with).

Ambush was removed from neutrals in beta 2 but it was put back in 0.8. There was some discussion about that. It was taken away at a time where all those crazy results keept happening before the 10% rule. But put back so that those poor ghosts can have a chance to defend themselves.

Just to clarify Ambush on Neutral units:

In version 0.8 (current running version)
- Starting Neutral units do not have Ambush value
- Units converted to Neutral (due to player dropout) do keep their Ambush value
- Units produced by an Active neutral city do have Ambush value
(So in your case mentioned above probably it was due to case 2 or 3 here)

In version 0.9 (coming version)
- All Neutrals will have Ambush value as a normal unit, i.e. even the starting units...

Thank you for your reaction on my off-topic additional issue. What about the issue of being able to read enemy messages?

It is a known bug for this beta and is supposed to be address before the release of the next beta. It's a bug that's been reported about 10 times now...so, be careful of what you say in the game chat box ;)

haha note to self. No more conversations with Xenocide about how to overcome you! 8-)

Whats going to be funny is us staring at each other for the next batch of turns because we are all at peace.
