Mercenaries

Do you have suggestions or ideas for improvement, post them here and we will them out.

Mercenaries

Any chance mercenaries will be added into Beta4?

There are some maps that don't have a ton of ruins which means you'll get to the point where you only get Hero with no allies offers (the 750-1250 range or so). It would be nice to receive mercenary offers in this range (4 knights/spiders, 3 Giants/Minotaurs, 2 griffins/elephants, etc.).

I'd prefer for it to be random (i.e., not like how you can choose which hero type you want which I'd like to be random as well).

Mercenaries could be an option that the creator of a specific game can toggle on or off.

This seems like a good idea to me...but I'd prefer to see what I'm buying, and where they will show up.

I assume it would be like DLR. They would show up at a random city and offer to be hired.

I didn't mean for it to be random as far as you not knowing what you were buying, just the fact that a certain type of mercenary would show up and you wouldn't be able to choose between different species/army types like you can with heroes.

I'd like to once again put in a request for hired Mercenaries...especially since it seems like it costs 1300+ gold to get a hero+1 Ally and since the new Beta rolled out it seems like I never get more than the 1300 gold mark. There are many times I'd rather have a few Minotaurs/HVY Cav/Giants then a single Hero.

We have graphics for buildings that can hold mercenaries, some of our nicest graphics (we ordered it for cities but removed buildings from cities). Just have a couple of other things on the todo before we can look at this.

Excellent! So, it wouldn't work like how heroes show up now? There'd be set buildings on the map to go "unlock" the mercenaries?

I noticed Mercenaries wasn't a part of 0.8, any additional thoughts regarding the topic?

piranha, you had stated something about having a building for this?
