Chazar could you test with touchgame.php and touchgame2.php and see if any of them solves the zoomed in thing?

I could test it now. Unfortunately, it does not work at all. It looks like one of the earlier iterations again:

Chazar wrote:This completly disables the game:
  • Main and Mini map stay empty (just black/green background visible, no units or terrain
  • Main menu (usually top edge) is shown completely unfolded over the entire screen (like normal nested <ul>)

This is for both touchgame.php and touchgame2.php, tested with two different ver091 games in both portrait and landscape mode and with lowres / highres. Nome of them worked. :-(

I am a bit short on time right now, but I just managed a very quick glance at it:
  • I cannot see a difference between toucgame and touchgame2
  • landscape mode is much improved: dialogue boxes have the correct size now, map view is 14(w)x10(h)
  • the two buttons about defence/attack order view and online tracking underneath the mini map are too far to the left, ie inside the map view
  • portrait is at 8x16 now, but the main menu is in the far left corner underneath the left side button bar, so the menu point main is inaccessible in portrait mode only
so overall it is an improvement, much less wasted screen space :)

If you have the time later it would be nice with a screenshot. Landscape mode is what we are aiming for so thats what we want to get right.

I will post screen shots as soon as I can.

The problem with the order-view/tracking buttons only affects portrait mode.

Landscape mode is actually pretty fine already.

With option lowres it is fine, with option highres one needs a very small amount of vertical scrolling between minimal and the buttons underneath, but I would still prefer highres mode myself.

Here we go now. I learnt how to do screenshots directly on the Nexus now, but since I cannot upload the 3MB pictures directly here due to the file size limitation, and since I do not know yet how to resize them directly on the tablet to make them smaller, it still takes a while until the pictures arrive on my laptop and then get posted here on the forum.

Overall, it is quite ok, but I would still like to see more tiles at once in the map view:
15(w) x 10(h) is still terribly small compared to the 25(w) x 15(h) that I get on my laptop with 1920x1080.

Well, I guess you have to find one size to fit all Android devices, so I also checked on my wife's phone, an HTC desire HD, there I get 8(w)x7(h) tiles. Overall, I would say that zooming out the map view to show more tiles would be preferable on the small phone as well.

Especially on the large tablet, the units/tiles are still displayed so huge on the 10" (300 ppi) screen that one can see each single block of the graphics, making it somewhat blurry and ugly.

With &res=lowres, everything is shown.

Dialog boxes are smaller than the screen area now, so that looks about right.

The following two are with &res=highres. Unfortunately, the Nexus10 resolution of 2560 x 1600 is not high enough yet, so this parameter requires some scrolling. ;) Scrolling is actually a bit difficult, since you need to find a spot that does not scroll the map view - I generally scroll the screen by dragging between the stack-unit-view on the right hand side. One does not need to scroll a lot, btw, as once can see.

...and here is a bug that I discovered while doing a proper turn on the nexus device: city production buying is somewhat messed up (again no difference between touchgame.php and touchgame2.php)

This post and screenshot now came directly from the Nexus tablet, so I hope the quality is still OK.

PS:
Pretty much all icons are missing in all the city screens

Thanks for all the screenshots.

I've tested a update on both files. But I think that it will be hard to get the page to look right until we get our new version working. Taking advantage of the high resolution will probably require updating all css (which will have to do for the iOS version).
touchgame.php uses a setting on the stylesheets but since there is a lot of styles not included in them chances are that it will look crazy but you can try it.
touchgame2.php uses a initial scale value 0.75 but I think it will just zoom out the page.

I guess the lowres version is as good as we will get with these small quickfixes. I've updated the icons file so you should have icons if you can refresh the cache when loading.

Touch game.php no longer works at all for me now:

Touchgame2.php looks pretty fine though. Icons in the city dialogue are correctly displayed everywhere, all text is within its proper borders and the whole thing is fairly well usable. 8-)
